Plenty of baby boomers, those born between 1946 and 1964, are making the dating scene again in the wake of a divorce or the death of a spouse: According to AARP, 30 percent of the nation’s 77 million boomers are single, and 70 percent of single boomers are dating regularly. Several Internet dating sites report the baby boomer demographic is the fastest-growing portion of the market. “If you talk to anyone over 50, they’re shocked to be there,” said sociologist and professor Pepper Schwartz, sex columnist, founder of dating site perfectmatch.com and author of the recently published ‘Prime: Adventures and Advice on Sex, Love, and the Sensual Years.’ “They’re staying in the game as much as they possibly can.”

The term gliding towards retirement may have little meaning to the slightly more than one million Americans who are working past age 75. The U.S. Department of Labor says about 6.4 percent of all Americans 75 or older were working last year. That’s up from 4.7 percent a decade earlier. People are living longer and healthier and need the money but some say the first wave of Baby Boomers reaching the traditional retirement age has opened up lots of opportunities for part-time workers. The gradual increase in the age for receiving Social Security benefits to 67 and a decline in traditional pensions and retiree health benefits.

Baby boomers re-entering the workforce don’t have to look like runway models. Rather, depending on the place and kind of employment, boomers do need to dress appropriately. Here are a few tips: Dress codes have changed a lot. Take a trip to the mall, frequent those stores that sell to the thirty and forty-something executives. Visit the dentist, forty years of coffee and tea make teeth less than brilliantly white. A hairdresser or barber can do wonders, giving you a fresh and “with it” hair style. Dress appropriately for the job interview. Khakis and a dress shirt with tie are most times all that is required. Subtly display your cellphone or PDA. Employers will see that you are comfortable with technology.

Eric Herzog, Ph.D., author of the book “Future Leaders,” sounds a wake-up call for the business world to open its eyes and see the problem of the retiring ranks of baby boomers. It will be too late when they wave goodbye to long-term technical staff and leaders and then try to conduct business without key personnel, he predicts. Companies will see their best and brightest and most experienced workers head off to golf courses while the businesses are left in a lurch, Herzog warns. The numbers are ominous. About 50 percent of all companies recently surveyed say they expect to lose the majority of their senior managers in the next three years, and 15 percent say they expect to lose three-quarters or more of their senior staff.

For two and a half centuries, the United States Marine Corps has been defending the lives and liberties of the United States citizenry. Recently, certain “elected” members of Congress have found it to be politically expedient (trolling for votes) to bash, and to spread false information, about our proud young men and women who are willing to die in service to their country.
