Baby Boomers Return To The Dating Lifestyle

Plenty of baby boomers, those born between 1946 and 1964, are making the dating scene again in the wake of a divorce or the death of a spouse: According to AARP, 30 percent of the nation’s 77 million boomers are single, and 70 percent of single boomers are dating regularly. Several Internet dating sites report the baby boomer demographic is the fastest-growing portion of the market. “If you talk to anyone over 50, they’re shocked to be there,” said sociologist and professor Pepper Schwartz, sex columnist, founder of dating site perfectmatch.com and author of the recently published ‘Prime: Adventures and Advice on Sex, Love, and the Sensual Years.’ “They’re staying in the game as much as they possibly can.” |
